Relax.

Imagine just a few minutes each day where you can be still. Imagine just a few moments when your mind is clear and your body is calm. I know. This sounds impossible. I was skeptical that as a sophomore in college I would have any time for myself. I have good news… the truth is all you need is 5 minutes a day to reset yourself. Here are a few tips to get you through the day.

Meditate

In the buzz of daily life we find ourselves looking for any amount of time to just chill out. My most recent discovery is an app called Insight Timer. Insight timer is a free app that offers 600 free guided meditations from incredibly talented meditation teachers. The best part about this app is the feature that allows you to see how many people all around the world are meditating at the same time you are and which guided meditations they are using! Each guided meditation is rated and reviewed making it easy to navigate the best one for you.

Get outside

Even if you only have a few minutes between your lunch break and next meeting. Take this time to walk outside and take a few deep breathes in. Sitting inside all day staring at a screen or answering calls can be stressful and exhausting. Feeling the fresh air and getting some Vitamin D is the perfect mix for rejuvenation and will help you get through the next few hours.

Be grateful

I have found that even in my most stressful moments such as before a job interview or exam I am able to find peace and clarity if I think about three things I am grateful for in that moment. Just three things! They can be as simple or complex as you want them to be. Whatever comes to mind is just perfect. Being grateful puts things in perspective and will you put less pressure on the task at hand.
